After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1991, Micheal Johnson started court reporting school at the Stenograph Institute of Texas in Abilene, Texas. In January of 1994 Micheal passed the Texas Certified Shorthand Reporter exam and began working as a freelance court reporter in Dallas. In 1995 Micheal moved back to his hometown area of Wichita Falls, Texas and began North Texas Court Reporters, Inc. In 2005 Micheal made the move to Austin, Texas and set up Johnson Reporting Services. Since then he has traveled across the state of Texas, the US, and internationally taking depositions.

Micheal has served on numerous committees on the state and national level. He has been actively involved with STAR (Society for the Technological Advancement of Reporters) since joining in 2004, including serving as the president in 2015. Micheal actively attends the NCRA (National Court Reporters Association) annual conventions each year to stay abreast of the industry standards and to network with professionals from across the country.

Micheal has been married to his wife Tomi Johnson since 1992 and they have two children, Coral and Colby. Now that both children are grown and on their own, Micheal and Tomi love to travel.
